Yesterday, February 7th, students from CIL had the chance to attend Ben E Keith Food Show at the NRG Stadium. One of the exciting highlights of the show was that our student Jaqueline Panjoj ranked 2nd in the Pastry Competition held at the show!
Jaqueline, currently enrolled in Level 3 “Master Chef”‘, created the winning dessert which she called Les 3 Amies Crepes meaning The 3 Friends in French. The people she was referring to were her two friends Maria Maldonado Garcia and San Juanita Garza who were with her for the competition. The three have been together for the past year and Jaqueline says,
“They were there through this whole journey at CIL! We have shared so many good memories together, like being awarded for Gaston Scholarship; they are my rock.”
Were did her recipe stem from? Jaqueline, born and raised in Guatemala, is very proud of her roots. She witnessed that people are less fortunate to have an education. Fighting for her dreams and showing them that nothing is impossible is one of her greatest motivations. However, Jaqueline’s biggest inspiration to pursue her dreams has always been her grandmother. She’s the person that taught her the recipe and put a lot of love in them, just like she did.
“Every job is a self-portrait of the person who does it. Autograph your work with excellence.” – Jaqueline Panjoj
