CIL named one of the 21 America’s Top Culinary Schools

Houston – On June 4 2018, Culinary Institute Lenotre (CIL) was ranked in the “21 of America’s Top Culinary Schools” by the highly respected FSR magazine amongst more than 1,000 competing schools in the country.

FSR Magazine stated that they researched and identified 21 top schools amongst 1,000 institutions and educational programs based on criteria such as ratio of hands-on classes in the overall curriculum, qualifications of chef instructors, longevity, graduation rate, employment rate, opportunities for career, recognition within  the industry, campus life,  accreditation, satisfaction of students and alumni…

According to the Texas Workforce Commission, with an average of 94% of students finding jobs before their graduation, CIL has the best employment rate amongst culinary schools in Texas.  The school entertains strong ties to leaders in the industry and alumni who are excelling in foodservice.

FSR reported that like CIL, the top schools on the list have highly regarded full-service restaurants that are staffed by culinary program students and open to the public. Intensive off-campus experience through internships and externships is also part of the career preparation provided by the top-ranked schools selected by the magazine.  CIL includes a 10 weeks practicum for all of its programs and students who qualify can complete their internships in France or in the best restaurants around the world. Class size and instructor accessibility were also considered when choosing the top schools. CIL rates excellent in this area with a 1:12 teacher/students ratio.

“At the Culinary Institute Lenôtre, the curriculum focuses on hands-on learning, allowing students to spend 85% of their time in the kitchen labs and offers specialty electives such as Hospitality and Restaurant Management, Sommelier, or Advanced Skills in Pastry Décor. Student options include working in an on-site gourmet restaurant, Le Bistro, an organic garden, and a summer externship to France. Chef-instructors have a minimum of 10 years’ experience and the average ratio is 12 students per chef-instructor in the kitchen labs.” Said Connie Gentry, FSR magazine’s reporter.

This ranking is a great achievement for Culinary Institute Lenôtre who is the only French-owned culinary institute in the USA and the only dedicated culinary school in Houston. This recognition highlights CIL’s culinary excellence and attests its position as a leading culinary institution in the USA, offering one of the best programs in Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts and Hospitality Management.
