About This Program

The Associate of Applied Science in Baking and Pastry Arts Program will prepare you in the fundamental skills of classical and modern pastries, bread, cake, ice cream and confections.

This program is also designed to prepare students in leadership, supervision, marketing, service, and management skills within the hospitality industry.

  • Time to complete the program on a regular schedule: 100 Quarter Credit Hours
  • Full-time schedule: 4 days a week
  • Three schedules are available: morning, afternoon, and evening classes

Achieve your education goals easily with most academic courses offered in-person or online. Then, choose to take morning, afternoon, or evening labs at our Houston Campus.

Online academic classes are conducted using a synchronous modality. This includes an instructor in a classroom at CIL with real-time instruction.
Students can ask their instructor questions directly.
Although online culinary courses follow a schedule, students can choose morning, afternoon, or evening classes.

By giving the online option CIL optimizes online culinary education classes to make sure you are successful in earning your degree or diploma. If you prefer, you can request to attend one or more online courses in person at CIL. This means you have the flexibility to juggle school, your job, and your personal life.

The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts program considerably increases the opportunity for you to begin your own business whether it is a bakery or catering. Graduates may also take positions as pastry cooks and bakers, leading to positions as pastry sous chefs, executive pastry sous chefs, and pastry chefs. Also, catering assistant managers in hotels, restaurants, bakeries, country clubs and positions in institutional food services such as schools, hospitals, and commercial businesses are available.
