From the Kitchen to Space: LENOTRE Partners with NASA HUNCH

Back to News

Together with NASA HUNCH and participating high school students, LENOTRE is helping inspire new possibilities for the future of food.

Culinary Institute Lenotre is proud to partner with NASA HUNCH (High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware) to provide high school students with a unique opportunity to explore the connection between culinary arts, science, nutrition, and space exploration.

Through this partnership, Lenotre is working alongside high school students as they learn about the challenges of developing food for astronauts. Students will be introduced to space food science, food processing, nutrition, and the ways spaceflight can affect the human body and its nutritional requirements.

The collaboration allows students to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it to a real-world challenge. With guidance and support from culinary professionals, students can explore food development from a new perspective, considering not only flavor and creativity, but also nutrition, processing, and the unique requirements of space travel.

The NASA HUNCH program gives students the opportunity to engage in meaningful, hands-on learning while developing valuable skills in research, creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving. It also provides a glimpse into the many career paths where culinary education intersects with science and technology.

Through this partnership, Culinary Institute Lenotre is excited to support the next generation of innovators and demonstrate how culinary education can play a role in solving challenges far beyond the kitchen.
