ALAIN LENOTRE RECOGNIZED BY THE FRENCH SENATE
On September 14, 2018 the French Senator, Mr. Damien Regnard, visited the City of Houston to honor Alain Lenotre, founder and President of the CULINARY INSTITUTE LENOTRE®, by bestowing him with the Medal of the French Senate.
Senator Regnard is part of a group of 12 Senators elected to represent French citizens that are established abroad in the Senate. The ceremony was held in the LENOTRE™ Culinary College in the presence of many French friends of Alain and Marie Lenotre.
Senator Regnard’s speech recognized Alain Lenotre for founding the unique French owned Culinary Arts College in the U.S. 20 years ago (just ranked #1 out of the 66 best in America by Niche.com). Senator Regnard commended Alain Lenotre for his volunteer work and generosity to the many French associations in Texas, especially founding and presiding the French Veterans of Texas Association and founding the Texas Association of French Solidarity.
Today, October 12, marks a milestone for our students! After months of hard-work, it was finally time for our 108th class to graduate. The ceremony took place at the Sheraton and was filled with friends, family, and inspiring speeches. It is our honor to welcome our students on this new journey as a Chef and to remind them our doors are always open for you. Visit us, let us know how things are going and if you need work, remember, we have lifetime job placement assistance!
Whether you’re graduating with a degree in Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry or Hospitality & Restaurant Management Degree or Diploma, we are very proud of having all you as a CIL Alumni!
Congratulations everyone and thank you for making this day even more special!
Live Sandwich Competition Showdown at CULINARY INSTITUTE LENOTRE®
On October 2nd, the CULINARY INSTITUTE LENOTRE® (CIL) hosted the 3rd Annual Puratos Sandwich Competition. The eleven finalists battled it out with their own recipes using nine different breads provided by Puratos.
CIL worked in partnership with Puratos USA to select the competing finalists from a pool of over 30 recipe entries by CIL’s current students and alumni. Prizes were provided by Puratos, who donated $2250 in scholarship money and added this year a week training at their headquarters!
The sandwiches were judged on taste, ease of preparation, innovation, creativity, and presentation.
In addition, the judges felt it was necessary to include a 4th place as there was a stand out sandwich by student Pedro Ott with his recipe Flat Bread Feta Caprese Jardinier.
Contestants who didn’t make it this time will be able to resubmit recipes around new bread concepts in 2019 to Chef Christelle Pradat.
On September 27th, the CIL team, Chef Benoît (Chef instructor Cuisine), Chef Sebastien (Head Chef instructor Cuisine) and chef student Melissa, took on the 34th Caesar Salad Competition. We are proud to not only say they won the creative category but they integrated the Vegan lifestyle of eating to their creation.
“The north Houston culinary school prepared a special vegan salad that won most creative for its perfect execution of the Caesar salad flavor profile using all vegan ingredients. This included fried egg plant, a dairy-less cheese, and an egg-less Caesar dressing that could have just as easily won the traditional competition on taste alone.” -Carlos Brandon, Houston Press contributor
The food industry continues to change and grow for a healthier lifestyle and this team demonstrated the ability to adapt and keep the traditional flavors. Congratulations to our team, we are very proud of you all.
WHAT A WIPE OUT! CULINARY INSTITUTE LENOTRE® students participated in the competition held at the Ben E. Keith Food Expo and did an amazing job. The students displayed their Chocolate Showpiece for the judges and here were the results:
1st Place: Angie Andrade – $350, certificate & medal
2nd Place: Rebecca Jewel – $250, certificate & medal
3rd Place: Rocio Maccagno – $150, certificate & medal
Cassandra Ross – certificate & medal
Audrey Rios – certificate & medal
Danielle Arroyo- certificate & medal
